Dragon dance originated in China and is performed whenever there are special festivities in any of the many cities and towns in China. This is also practiced in many China towns in the world and countries known to celebrate the Chinese New Year. This unique performance began in 1970 and is carried out throughout the years.
Dragons are mythical creatures that are believed by most Chinese to bring them good luck that is why the dragon dance is the highlight of all Chinese festivals and this performance is also a very good symbol of the Chinese people’s unity since it requires around fifty people to execute this dance.
